FISHLINK FINAL PROJECT
The final project will be the creation of a Web page on an aquatic
topic. The Web page will be linked to your personal homepage. There
will be a choice of formats for the Web page and a list of potential
topics for you to choose from. The objective of the final project is
to bring together the information searching and computer skills that
we have covered.
Formats
Choose one of the following formats:
- Develop an informational Web page on an aquatic topic.
The page must include a written introduction to the topic and
associated issues. This written portion should be no less than 250
words length. The page must also include a bibliography of
relevant references, including both print and non-print sources
(e.g. books, journal or newspaper articles, Internet sources). All
references must be cited in the appropriate format. The
bibliography must include no less than 4 references.
- Develop a public presentation Web page on an aquatic
topic. Use PowerPoint to develop your slides and then put the
presentation on your homepage. The presentation must include a
title slide, and at least five additional content slides, also
include final bibliography slide(s) that includes references you
used in putting your presentation together. The references should
include both print and non-print sources (e.g. books, journal or
newspaper articles, Internet sources). All references must be
cited in the appropriate format. The bibliography must include no
less than 4 references.
- Design your own format for a Web page on an aquatic
topic. Discuss this with the instructors before beginning.
Topics
This is just a list of potential topics for you to use. You can,
of course, choose a topic of your own. You should check your topic
with one of the instructors.

- Salmon as an endangered species
- Logging and salmon fisheries
- Salmon life cycle/history
- Marine mammals
- Paralytic shellfish poisoning
- Ballard Locks controversy
- Aquaculture of (pick a species, any species)
- Habitat conservation/loss and fisheries
- Marine fishing
- Fishery conflicts (economic/social aspects)
- Suggest your own topic
Web page Structure
Your page should include the following elements:
- A clear title and statement of ownership of the Web page, and
dates when it was created.
- An image or icon or line (e.g. background, colored bullet,
colored arrows)
- At least two links to Internet sources.
Bottom line
The final projects will be presented to the Fishlink class during
the eleventh week of the quarter, on Wednesday June 11, 8:30-10:20AM.
