What is the SinglePoint platform?

SinglePoint offers the only platform in the industry that intelligently manages message type and flow in order to optimize the customer experience. The platform is made up of messaging gateways that are engineered to support different application and message types. The IDX gateway provides intelligent message routing and formatting, so content providers can send one message type into our network and know it will be delivered automatically in the appropriate format for their customers. The high-capacity gateway supports voting and polling applications with proven low-latency processing for thousands of messages per second. And the MMSC delivers multimedia messages containing content such as pictures, graphics, music, images, and ringtones.

What are typical data rates?

Today, the primary carriers offer a compelling 120-Kbps service in most metropolitan markets, which allows for lower latencies when delivering digital images, ringtones, video clips, and even streaming video.

What is Short Message Service?

Short Message Service (SMS) is a standard messaging protocol that delivers messages of 160 characters or less to a mobile network's short message center, where it then forwards them to a subscriber's mobile phone when the phone is on the network. This is called a mobile terminate (MT) text message. When the message travels in the opposite direction, starting at the handset, the message is designated mobile originate (MO).

How much does the end user pay for standard text messaging services?

Standard rate message bundles typically cost an end user between $4.99 and $14.99 per month, or $0.10 a message in a "pay as you go" model.

What is Multimedia Messaging Service?

Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is the next generation of messaging. It allows subscribers to send and receive voice, graphics, and video clips in addition to text messages.

How does billing work for off-deck premium SMS services?

For premium message delivery (PSMS, WAP Push, MMS), the carrier bills the end user for the message on his mobile phone bill and then pays the aggregator, who in turn pays the content owner.

Why is SinglePoint an effective advocate with carriers?

What are common short codes?

Common short codes (CSCs) provide an easy method for wireless subscribers to request access to messaging-based applications. Managed by the Common Short Code Administration (www.usshortcodes.com), any application provider, or SinglePoint on behalf of its customers, can request a specific or randomly assigned short code of five or six digits in length. Once the short code is implemented and provisioned by carriers, any subscriber on a given network can participate in a messaging program by sending a message to the common short code address.

Specifically, SinglePoint holds connectivity agreements with Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, Midwest Wireless, Verizon Wireless, SunCom Wireless, Alltel Wireless, Virgin Mobile, and Cincinnati Bell.
