HelpWelcome to the Help section of the Teens, Tobacco & Media CD-ROM. We hope to provide answers to any questions you have about using the CD in this section. If you have further questions, please feel free to Contact Us. Before You Begin: An Internet connection is not necessary to use this CD unless you need to download the required software as noted below. You may use the files directly off of the CD; however, it will run better if you copy all of the contents from the CD and place them into a location of your choice on your hard drive. We recommend creating a folder called “TTM” on your main hard drive (usually called “C” on a PC and “Macintosh HD” on an Apple®) and copying all of the contents from the CD into that folder. Keep in mind that you will need at least 650 MB of free space. Software: There are two software programs required to run this program. We recommend updating them to their latest versions. Both of them can be downloaded for free online at the following addresses:
File Structure: Once you've chosen your presentation format (Computer or Overhead), you will be taken to another page where you will be provided with all of the required contents, (i.e. handouts, ads, etc.). Each link on this page will open up a folder from the CD where you can access the PDF files. We recommend that you begin with the Lesson Overviews. This file will provide you with additional instructions on what to do with the other CD contents. Videos: The videos on this CD have been encoded as QuickTime™ files and linked to the Computer format's PDF presentation. If you plan on moving these contents from the CD, keep in mind that both must always remain together and the videos must always stay within a folder/directory called "videos." If you've done everything correctly above and the videos still do not play or you receive an error message about the "video not being found," refer to Adobe© Acrobat©'s help section on re-linking movies. If the QuickTime™ videos do not play smoothly:
Printing: To print the necessary PDF files, open them in Adobe® Acrobat© and choose File -> Print from the toolbar. System Requirements: Windows
Macintosh
If you are still having problems, please contact us at 1-888-833-6638 or thmedia@u.washington.edu for assistance. For best results, update to current software versions: Adobe® Acrobat© and Apple® QuickTime™
